I love movies. It’s been an obsession ever since I was terrified by my first cinema outing at the age of three (Disney’s Snow White!).
It’s been three and a half years since I did a two-day screenwriting course at the Irish Film Institute with Laurence Henson and fell in love with writing scripts. It wasn’t long after that that I realised that this was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life.
I’m an office worker from nine to five, but at night and every chance I get, I’m writing scripts. I’m in a writing group and I pen the odd article for film websites.
I want to get see my name on the big screen, and while I have seen it there three times for short films I’ve been involved with, it’s not enough. I want more – much more!
So this blog is partly about my journey towards getting one of my feature scripts produced and seeing my name on in a much longer list of screen credits.
There will obviously be articles about screenwriting and about movies in general. I’ll be sharing information I’ve learned, reviewing useful books about scripts and writing about film festivals and other events.
I’ll also be interviewing film industry types, as well as people like me who are just starting out.
